Planning your holiday party menu for this Christmas? If so, you’ll want to include this olive and cheese appetizer tree.
I hosted Thanksgiving this year, and although it brought plenty of joy to me (hosting our family and all) it also brought too much stress. Stress over buying everything needed, making all the food, and of course getting the house ready for guests.

For Christmas though, we opt out of doing a sit down dinner, and instead gather around lots of delicious appetizers. This olive and cheese tree will definitely wow your family and friends. It’s not only delicious, it looks great with any tablescape.
Olive and Cheese Appetizer Tree
To make your olive and cheese appetizer tree, you’ll need at least two types of olives. I used Mezzetta brand Garlic Stuffed Olives and Pitted Greek Kalamata Olives, but you can use which ever ones you prefer. Then choose a cheese. I used a family favorite, Colby Jack. For the greenery, I started with thyme, and ended up adding parsley as well.
To make your tree, you’ll need a cone shaped Styrofoam, which you can also find at most craft stores. Cover it with foil, and spread cream cheese all over it.
Then use toothpicks (the colored party ones are even more fun!) to add olives and your cubed cheese all over the cone.
This does take at minimum 20 minutes to make, and I recommend making it just before you’re going to serve it, so that the cheese doesn’t harden up.
- 8 oz. Colby Jack cheese
- 1 jar Mezzetta Kalamata Olives
- 1 jar Mezzetta Garlic Stuffed Olives
- ¼ cup cream cheese
- Parsley bunch
- 6-8 sprigs of Thyme
- foam cone
- Cover your foam cone with foil, and spread the cream cheese onto the foil.
- Use the toothpicks to add olives, and cubes of cheese onto the cone.
- Add the parsley and thyme in between the cheese and olive pieces.
