Pompeian is celebrating National Olive Oil Month this August by launching the Pompeian Pledge – a call for consumers nationwide to swap butter for olive oil in everyday recipes.

Olive oil contains far less saturated fat (only 2g compared to 7g) and no cholesterol (butter contains 33mg of cholesterol per serving). It also makes a great alternative, when you’re trying to stay dairy-free.

An easy swap for you? Potatoes!

Does your family enjoy mashed potatoes? Did you know you can actually skip the butter and use olive oil instead?

Another favorite potato dish of ours, is Oven Roasted Ranch Potatoes.

It’s super easy to make, and the girls love ’em!

To start, preheat your oven to 450°F. Dice 8 small red potatoes about 1/4 inches each. Put into a mixing bowl and add the 1/4 cup olive oil. Cover potatoes with oil by tossing them.

Next, add a package of dry Ranch Dressing (I bought this big container from Costco). Toss again.

Arrange the  potatoes on sheet, and bake for 25 to 30 minutes.

The perfect addition to any meal!

Another swap we’re going to try… is for popcorn! To kick off the National Olive Oil Month celebrations and reach even the biggest butter fanatics, Pompeian is partnering with movie theaters across the country to swap movie theater popcorn butter with Pompeian Olive Oils.
